How's it done?
Creation of Pages
The majority of these pages were created using "Frontpage Express", the free, cut-down web page editor produced by Microsoft.(Generally supplied with Internet Explorer).
Netscape Composer (free with Netscape Navigator) will also do the job.
The Skirmisher pages were created in Word (97 and later versions) and saved using "save as HTML"
Uploading of Pages
The pages I created were uploaded to the Web using a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program. The program I used is "Terrapin", which is available to download off the web and can be used on 30 days free trial. Thereafter you should register it and pay a small fee (approx £15). There are no doubt other FTPs - try a search engine and see what you find.
Terrapin FTP is available to download at www.tpin.com
You should probably also look at your ISP's (internet service provider) help pages.
Help with HTML
HTML means Hyper Text Mark-up Language - the code to create web pages. To see the code for this page (using Internet Explorer) click the View menu and then Source.
You can get basic information on HTML from www.w3-tech.com/crash . To get more help with HTML you should probably visit a book shop and look for Idiots or Dummies guides to creating your own website.
Pictures on the Web
Most of the pictures on my website were obtained by scanning printed photographs, using a flatbed scanner. These are available from places like PC world for £75 plus. Pictures are best saved as JPG or GIF formats, which are smaller files and therefore take less time to download. Pictures can be inserted into documents using Frontpage Express.
Good Luck!
